  • Another Victory for Kuchar and Bettinardi Golf at The Sony Open

    Kuchar2

Clutch Putting Down the Stretch Lifts Kuchar to Second Win of The 2019 PGA Season

Using his custom Tour Dept. KM-1 (Kuchar Model 1) Armlock model from the specialist milled putter manufacturer based in Tinley Park, Illinois, Matt Kuchar poured in clutch putt after clutch putt on the back 9 of Wai’alae Country for a final round 66, and lifting him to win the 2019 Sony Open. The Sony Open was Kuchar’s second win in three starts to open the 2018-2019 PGA Tour season, 9th overall PGA Tour victory, and his 100th top 10 finish of his career.

“Matt played terrific golf all week, and really came through in the clutch on the back 9 of Wai’alae Country Club, to secure his 2nd PGA win in only three starts”, said Sam Bettinardi, Vice President of Bettinardi Golf. “Matt’s putting only got better with added pressure, as he continues to prove why he is one of the best American players in the game of golf.”
The 40-year-old carded 24-birdies for the tournament and had a 7.038 strokes gained putting, which was fourth best in the field this week. With the win, Kuchar jumped to 22nd in the Official World Golf Rankings and second in the Fedex Cup standings. Matt is the first two-time winner of the season.

“My putter remained hot all week and having made so many birdies, I knew it wouldn’t let me down at the end,” said Kuchar, who before we won in Mexico, saw his last victory come at the 2014 RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina. “To win again, two out of three starts is crazy to comprehend,” said Kuchar.

Kuchar designed his 40.5” Soft Carbon Steel KM-1 putter with F.I.T. Face Technology together with master craftsman Bob Bettinardi. It features a 19” long custom Lamkin Armlock grip that he locks parallel to his left forearm for a more stable putting stroke – known as the Armlock. The pair have worked together since 2011 and Bettinardi is the only equipment manufacturer to offer an Armlock model to all golfers.

“It was Matt’s idea to try the Armlock method,” said Bob Bettinardi. “He wanted something to take the small muscles out of his putting stroke and after testing, he settled on the Model 1, because he wanted a blade-style putter with a wider body to give him a better view of the sightline when pressing forward,” he added.

The win is Bettinardi’s 1st of 2019, following an impressive 2018 season that included a company record 10 professional victories, including their third Major Championship title at The Open at Carnoustie in July 2018. Bettinardi’s growing Tour Staff includes Matt Kuchar, Eddie Pepperell, Haotong Li, Ben Silverman, Jim Herman, and Fred Couples. Bettinardi Golf is one of the fastest-growing equipment brands in golf, and has become increasingly popular for its hand-crafted putters made in the USA from a single piece of high-quality steel.

  • Molinari becomes Champion Golfer with Bettinardi putter

    Molinari-Claret-Jug-1

-World-class putting performance lands Italy’s first Major golf title-

Francesco Molinari withstood a final round challenge from playing partner Tiger Woods to win his first Major title at the 147th Open Championship with another world-class putting performance using his Bettinardi BBZero Tour putter.

The new Champion Golfer of the Year and the most consistent player in the world in recent months, birdied the formidable 18th hole for a final bogey-free round of 69 and a two-shot victory at Carnoustie, where his putts per GIR amounted to 1.770. Starting three shots back from the leaders, including defending champion Jordan Spieth, he became the fifth golfer to hold the lead during a captivating day, as his last putt secured Italy’s first Major title four years before the country hosts The Ryder Cup.

The popular Italian signed with Bettinardi at the start of the year and switched to his current Double Aged Stainless Steel (DASS) BBZero Tour putter before the Players Championship in May, ahead of winning the BMW PGA Championship and achieving his first PGA Tour title at the Quicken Loans National earlier this month with a resounding eight-shot victory.

Armed with the confidence gained from his trusted Bettinardi putter, Francesco has now achieved a remarkable sequence of three wins and two runner-up spots in his last six starts. At the toughest of the British Open venues, he played 37 holes without dropping a shot and managed an unrivalled bogey-free weekend on the wind-swept links course. Always known as one of the straightest hitters on Tour, it was once believed that putting under pressure was his Achilles heel. Not any longer, as he now ranks at No.6 in the world.

“I think it will take a long time for this to sink in,” said Francesco after accepting the Claret Jug. “To go bogey-free at the weekend around a track like this, it’s very good. I was as calm as you can be in the final round in The Open. I felt like I was ready for it,” added the 35-year-old, who recently visit the Bettinardi plant in Chicago where his putter was crafted.

“We’re so proud to see Francesco winning his first Major title and become the hottest player in the world right now with a Bettinardi putter that we created for him,” said company President Robert Bettinardi. “Francesco’s magnificent achievement tops off a remarkable run of performances with a putter that clearly gives him enormous confidence every time he plays and our brand with an Italian heritage could not have a better playing ambassador,” he added.

  • Molinari claims first PGA Tour title with putting masterclass

    - Italian’s Bettinardi putter proves red hot on way to an 8-shot victory-

Francesco Molinari produced a masterclass on the greens with his latest Bettinardi putter, holing more than 120 feet of putts during the final round to win his maiden PGA Tour title with an eight-shot victory at the Quicken Loans National.

Using a Bettinardi Double Aged Stainless Steel (DASS) BBZero Tour model, with FIT Face Milling and a sight dot on the top, the world number 17 carded a bogey-free course record, eight under 62, to finish on a tournament record 21 under par.

The popular Italian gave an imperious performance in leading the event, which included a back-nine of 29. He was six-under through holes 10-14 at TPC Potomac, Maryland and his round featured seven single putts, including a 50-foot eagle putt on the 10th hole.

Molinari signed with Bettinardi at the start of the year and has worked closely with famed putter maker Robert Bettinardi to create the best model for his game. He switched to his current putter before the Players Championship in May ahead of winning the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth a few weeks later.

“Francesco has put his trust in Bettinardi because of our ability to make any small adjustments at short notice, while retaining the premium quality of the putter” said Sam Bettinardi, Head of Sales and Marketing. “He’s proud to be working with a company that has Italian heritage and superior craftsmanship. If he calls us, we can move quickly to get his putter built and with Robert’s office 15 feet away from the shop floor, he can oversee everything and gives Francesco great confidence in the final product.

“Together we have created the perfect putter for him and he has enormous confidence in the BBZero Tour model, which he’s shown with two impressive victories in the last five weeks,” added Sam.

Tournament host, Tiger Woods, described Molinari’s performance as ‘phenomenal’ and Sky Sports pundit and Francesco’s coach, Denis Pugh mentioned on air, that confidence with his putter is at an all-time high.

“Everyone knows Francesco is a straight driver and he’s always had a laser-like iron game, but now he’s found inspiration with his putter and he’s not wasting shots on the greens anymore,” said Pugh.

Molinari only had two bogeys all week as he posted four rounds in the 60’s (67-65-65-62) and finished 1st in the putting statistics (GIR) with 105 on 62.

The victory lifted him to 42nd in the FedEx Cup ranking and puts him on course to qualify for the Tour Championship, which he narrowly missed last year. He also cemented his position in the European Points List for automatic qualification for the Ryder Cup in September.

The 35-year-old, who has former US Ryder Cup captain Dave Stockton as his putting coach, has had an impressive season playing on both sides of the Atlantic. He followed up the comprehensive victory at Wentworth with a runners-up spot at his home event, the Italian Open and a top-25 finish at the US Open.

Molinari has amassed nearly $30 million in prize money with six career victories, following wins at the WGC HSBC Champions in 2010 and two wins at the Italian Open a decade apart in 2006 and 2016. He also won the Open de España in 2012.

Having turned pro in 2004, he has represented Europe twice at the Ryder Cup - winning in both 2010 at Celtic Manor and in 2012 at Medinah. He also won the Omega Mission Hills World Cup for Italy in 2009, playing alongside his brother Edoardo.

    - Sensational round with Studio Stock model brings record win in Dubai -

China’s new golfing superstar Haotong Li produced ‘putting perfection’ with his Bettinardi Custom Studio Stock 3 Tour Edition putter to win in Dubai last weekend and break a host of records.

The European Tour labelled Li’s performance in the final round with his Bettinardi putter as ‘putting perfection’ after he holed 14 out of 14 putts inside 10 foot and ranked 1st in both putts per GIR (1.49) and putts per round (23.8). Earlier in the round Li holed a putt from off the 15th green for birdie to level scores with Rory McIlroy after being two behind through 10 holes.

“The last four holes (I hit) some of the best shots in my life,” said 22-year-old Li, who now sits second in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.

Winning by a stroke under incredible pressure in Dubai further cemented Li’s reputation as one of the Tour’s great clutch performers, following his closing 63 at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale and his 64 to win the Volvo China Open on home soil last season.

“The impact this victory will have in China will be massive for the Bettinardi brand and vindicates our decision to grow our Tour Team this season,” said Robert Bettinardi, President and CEO of Bettinardi Golf. “Signing such an exciting prospect in Li truly expanded the global appeal among Tour players in our brand,” he added.

The latest member of Team Bettinardi alongside Matt Kuchar, Francesco Molinari and Fred Couples, Li became the holder of the lowest score at 23 under par; the first Asian winner of the event; and the first Chinese player on the men’s Tour to break into the world’s top 50.

In securing the Omega Dubai Desert Classic as his second European Tour title, Li registered an impressive total of 30 birdies during the tournament.

  • Wentworth masterclass from Molinari with new Bettinardi putter

    BMW PGA

    - Italian wins his biggest ever prize with model chosen a few weeks ago -

Francesco Molinari captured the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship title and a $1.1m prize today after a flawless bogey-free weekend using a new Bettinardi putter he switched to just a few weeks ago.

Bettinardi’s Double Aged Stainless Steel (DASS) BBZero Tour model, with FIT Face Milling and a sight dot on the top, proved the perfect companion for the 35-year-old over the final stages of the demanding Wentworth Club course, as he finished two shots ahead of three-time Major winner Rory McIlroy.

Molinari, who was runner-up in the event last year and has been in contention on several occasions in the past, recorded his maiden victory in the Tour’s Rolex Series and his fifth Tour title to end the day in third spot on the Race to Dubai. He also catapulted himself into fourth spot on the European Points List and into the projected automatic qualification places for The Ryder Cup in September.

“It’s great to come out on top after being close so many times down the years,” said Francesco, who can now look forward to returning home this week for the Italian Open – an event he won two years ago. “Today was another very solid day for me and it was just enough to get me over the line.”

The victory lifted Molinari’s earnings on the European Tour this season to $1.7m after just four events and he is averaging 27.3 putts and 1.712 putts per GIR.

He is the second Team Bettinardi player to win on the European Tour this season and the third overall, following Haotong Li’s victory with a Studio Stock 3 Tour putter in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January. Other Team Bettinardi players include Matt Kuchar and Fred Couples.
