Downloading courses
To download courses you must perform the following steps
Installing the GoPlanet Software
Before you can download courses you will need to download the latest GoPlanet software onto your computer. If your GoPlanet came packaged with a software CD, please ignore this CD as it may contain an outdated version of the software.
To download the GoPlanet software, right click the following link and select 'Save Target As'. A pop-up dialog will appear asking where to Save the file. On the left-hand side, click 'Desktop', then click Save. The file may take a few minutes to download.
Download Software
(Right-click and select 'Save Target As').
- Unplug the GoPlanet device from your PC
- Find the 'Mars100_Software.zip' file that you downloaded above. If you followed the instructions above, it should be saved on your Desktop. To get to your computer's Desktop, minimise all the windows you have open using the '_' button at the top-right of each window (near the 'X' close button).
- Double-click the 'Mars100_Application' file and a window will appear showing you two files: 'Mars 100 Application' and 'Mars 100 USB Driver'. Double-click each file in turn to run them and follow the on-screen instructions. If a pop-up appears asking if you want to 'Extract All' or 'Run', just click 'Run'.
- Plug the GoPlanet device back into your PC. A notification might appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen saying that it's installing the USB driver.
Creating a GoPlanet user account
Before you can download courses you will need to create an account on the mygolfgps website.
- Navigate to www.mygolfgps.com
- When the website has loaded, click the 'Create account' button in the top-right corner of the website
- Enter your details in the form.
- In the 'Pricing Plans' section, select 'No Plans' for now.
- In the 'Serial Number' number box you will need to enter the serial number of your device. To find this:
- Switch the device on
- Select 'Settings'
- Press the Up (^) arrow, which should highlight the 'Unit info' option. Press enter. The serial number is listed next to 'S/N'.
Downloading Courses
Downloading courses onto your GoPlanet GPS unit is a three-step process:
- Log-in to your www.mygolfgps.com account
- Search for and download the course on www.mygolfgps.com
- Transfer the course data onto your GoPlanet device
Logging in to your account
- If you haven't yet created an account, please see the section on 'Creating a mygolfgps.com account'
- Click the following link to navigate to the website: www.mygolfgps.com
- On the upper-right of the page, click 'My GoPlanet Login'
- Enter your username and password, then click 'Log in'
Downloading courses to your PC
- Log-in to your mygolfgps.com account. On the left-hand side, type in the name of the course you wish to find and click 'Search'. Don't worry about the 'Country' and 'Region' dropdown boxes, unless the search produces a large number of results and you wish to narrow them down.
- After a few seconds, your search results will appear to the right. You should see a 'GPS' column in the search results. If a green golfer icon appears in this column, then it means that the course has been mapped and is ready to download.
- Click the name of the golf course in the search results. A small window should appear. Right-click the 'Course File' link in the course download window and select 'Save Target As'. In the pop-up box that appears, select 'Desktop' on the left hand side, then click Save.
Transfer the course from your PC to your GPS Unit
- Please ensure you have downloaded and installed the Mars 100 application (see Installing the GoPlanet Software)
- Open the Mars 100 application. This should appear on your Desktop as a golf ball icon.
- Ensure your GoPlanet is plugged into your computer with the USB cable. Turn the device on. The screen should say 'USB Mode'.
- Click the green 'Connect' button. If the connection is successful, your serial number will appear in the bottom-left corner of the application, and the connect button will change to 'Disconnect'.
- Click the green '+ Add Courses' button.
- Click 'Open Courses'. A pop-up will appear asking you to find the course file you downloaded to your PC. Click 'Desktop' on the left hand side and scroll down until you see your file.
- Click the 'Open' button in the pop-up box. This will take you back to the main screen. Click the orange 'Ok' button to transfer the file to your PC.
- After a few moments, the course should appear beneath 'My Courses' on the left-hand side. If it is on this list, then the course has been successfully loaded onto your device.
